Thank you for landing here! My name is Joan and I grew up in downtown Toronto and now live in beautiful London, Ontario. As long as I could hold a pencil I have been drawing and creating a variety of artistic things including, figure drawing, portraits, murals, photography and calligraphy. I also have a Fashion Degree and when I’m not doing calligraphy I also .
Why Calligraphy?
The art of beautiful writing started with an interest in gorgeous Fountain Pens and exquisite inks that quickly transitioned into calligraphy and the art of flourishing letters from thick swells to the finest hairlines with a dip pen. Those fine hairlines I just couldn’t achieve with a fountain pen so I dabbled with different inks and nibs to land on a few choice favourites. With today’s technology, writing seems like a chore to most. But to me, it’s a personalized touch. It’s a chance to connect – to really connect and not just text someone.
Why do I love it?
I love it because creativity and art runs through my veins and it’s only natural that I focus a business on beautiful art.
I love it because it’s so satisfying to create something personalized, meaningful and special for the client.
I love it because it gives the client a keepsake or experience that I hope they’ll remember. My mom passed of Alzheimers and for those who know, it’s hard to watch a loved one’s memory slowly fade. I hope perhaps my art is a memory that stays in your hearts.
